I published my first book, a young adult and adult devotional earlier this year. “A Quiet, Bold, Right Life” was truly a journey and I literally could not rest until it was “birthed”! Below is an excerpt. I hope that you like it:
“Look for God in Everything You Do
Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. — Proverbs 3:5-6, The Message
I’ll be the first to tell you—trusting God is not always easy. I eventually learned, though, that it doesn’t have to be a struggle. Trusting God can be a way of life in which you know what He’s saying to you and you do it with no questions asked.
I didn’t trust God for a long time. You also can’t really trust someone you don’t know, so I didn’t know God for a long time. I didn’t know Him because what I believed about Him was wrong. But one day, I came to see Him for who He really was. He spoke to me clearly through a scripture that let me know that He was and always will be the only one I can really trust. Since then I haven’t been the same. I trust Him with my life and I’m unhappy when I’m not seeking Him. I’m unhappy when I’m walking out of His will. I’m unhappy when I allow my circumstances to make me doubt His promises and His love. I’m heartbroken when—because of my own mistakes and pain—I can’t hear from Him. I don’t want to figure my life out on my own because I already know how that turns out. I want to acknowledge Him at every turn and invite Him into my life—even if I can’t feel Him. He is everywhere and He wants to show you which way to go. If you trust Him, you will never go wrong.”
