There is ALWAYS a way…

Driving home one day, I kept flipping an issue over in my mind…over and over…again and again. Finally I said aloud “I don’t see a way”. A soft voice in my heart said “There is ALWAYS a way”. I didn’t see the way, still, in that moment. But my troubled heart took courage in the message that still, small voice communicated to me. And I trusted that when the time was right, I would see the way.

Clark Atlanta University’s motto is “I’ll find a way or make one”. It’s very fitting to encourage and inspire students to go the extra mile when their sleep-deprived minds believe they’re stretched to the limit. It inspires them to dig deep and find the strength within their own will to keep going. But more is needed in life when what you were counting on doesn’t come through and when everything that can go wrong, will go wrong. Philippians 4:13 comes to mind “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” It gives proper credit where it’s due – Jesus Christ. But the whole passage is this: “I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”

I know that sounds really basic and simple. But for those of you who have lived through rock bottom, the rock bottom fell out, cornered in, hopeless situations…you know it’s not. When you’ve done all you can, accept the strength lean on the strength that only Jesus can give you to live through every season of life.

That word of encouragement I received in the car driving home was for me, definitely. But it’s also for someone else. If you keep turning it over and over…again and again…in your mind and you can see the way forward, be encouraged that no matter what your circumstance is, Jesus gives you strength to live through it.
