When Miracles Collide

Luke 1: 39-45

39 At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, 40 where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. 41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! 43 But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. 45 Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”

Both Mary and Elizabeth were pregnant with miracle babies. Elizabeth was of an age where a woman has typically stopped ovulating altogether. And we all know without ovulation and a shutdown of the reproductive system, you don’t become pregnant. Mary was a virgin. And we also know that you have to have sex in order to get pregnant. But despite these truths, God still masterfully used their circumstances to bring about healthy children…who later fulfilled promises that were long-awaited.

I love what happened when Mary and Elizabeth greet each other. It was like a collision: a sudden knowing on all levels and of all parties involved. This collision is my favorite part of the “Christmas” story. Even more now…because I can sense that many of us are believing God for the fulfillment of promises. Because many of us have waited for such a long time that we wonder if it’s even possible now.

But it is possible. And it’s going to happen. And when it does, those who stood with us are going to leap for joy – a joy that can only come from the Holy Ghost. Psalm 35: 27 “May those who delight in my vindication shout for joy and gladness; may they always say, “The Lord be exalted, who delights in the well-being of his servant.” I’m here to tell you that it is GOING to happen. And not only that…but when it DOES HAPPEN, there will be rejoicing. There will be testimonies of God’s faithfulness, his competence, his character, his goodness, his trustworthiness, and his glory.

I strongly sense that there is a call for us to realize that we are not alone. We are many who are expecting, pregnant with hope, pregnant with the actual promise and expecting. There is power in numbers. And you are not alone in this waiting period.

Get ready to see it happen and to rejoice with one another!
