Your Soul’s Garden

Isaiah 58:11, NLT: “The LORD will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.”

I was working on my front yard today. Because I’ve been so busy trying to get settled and moved in, I really have not had the time to tend to it like I’d originally planned. I pulled the weeds earlier this weekend, but the garden really needed watering as well. While I stood there watering a very parched garden, I had some questions. Where do the weeds come from and why are they so stubborn? How often to I need to water the plants and grass? What does it need to grow?

And so it is with our soul and our singles walk. How many times do we get sidetracked and neglect to meet God early in the morning (and late at night before bed)? How many times do we let other people’s “concern” about our single status exasperate us? And then allow it to make us doubt God? And what about when we work, work and work but don’t make it a priority to take care of our mental and physical health?

We wind up with neglected “gardens”.

My friend, your single season is the perfect time to master tending to your soul, life and spiritual gardens. You might be surprised at what you’ll find but the effort will be well worth it.
