How Can I Pray For You?

I’m going to post a little differently right now. I usually write devotionals, but right now I’d just like to share.

I just got back from church service. I go to the gospel chapel service at 7pm. My attendance had been spotty and I hadn’t been focused on my alone time with God. Life has a way of sidetracking you, but that’s okay. God came back to get me.

Well, I felt God’s presence at the service and it was so overwhelming. It was the opposite of everything I’ve experienced for the past 5 months. I felt encouraged, like I had joy. Like all the questions I had were already answered even if I didn’t see them with my own eyes. As the chaplain prayed before the message, I wept because I realized I was not alone. I knew I wasn’t, but it’s something altogether different for your spirit to allow you to register God’s presence. To allow you to feel that God is fighting for you, protecting you, loving you and singing over you with joy. Some people shout, some people lift hands. My tears remind me that I’m yet alive with the Holy Spirit inside. A man sitting next to me that I did not know recognized this and asked me at the end of service “How can I pray for you?” Indeed, God is with us.

For my Christian brothers and sisters – especially my single Christian sisters – I don’t know where you are in your walk with God. But be encouraged. You are not alone. God is with us.
